Arcata Fire Protection District Annexation – Coming Soon! 

Garberville Fire Protection District Annexation – 2022
Garberville FPD submitted an application for annexation of the District’s approximately 36,000 acre out-of-district good-will response area that includes the Benbow, Garberville Airport/Kimtu Meadows, Bear Canyon, Alderpoint Road, and South U.S. 101/Richardson Grove areas and the Sprowel Creek Volunteer Fire Response Area, and consolidating operations with the Sprowel Creek Volunteer Fire Company. The special tax and annexation were approved by voters on March 7, 2023.

Salmon Creek Fire Protection District Formation – 2022
LAFCo received a proposal submitted by registered voter petition to form the Salmon Creek Fire Protection District. The formation of the District and the Special Tax were approved by voters on March 7, 2023.

City of Arcata Creekside Annexation – 2021
LAFCo received a proposal submitted by resolution of application from the City of Arcata (City) for annexation of approximately 21.6 acres (4 parcels) of land located adjacent to the City boundary and within its current Sphere of Influence. The Commission provided final approval for the annexation on March 17, 2021. 

Rio Dell Fire Protection District Annexation – 2020
LAFCo has received a proposal submitted by resolution of application from the Rio Dell Fire Protection District (FPD) for annexation of approximately 11,498 acres (608 parcels) of developed and undeveloped rural residential and resource lands located outside the boundaries that is currently served by volunteer fire companies. This action also necessitated the divestiture of power to provide fire protection services by Scotia Community Services District (CSD).  The Commission approved the annexation on May 20, 2020.
