Alternate Public Member Vacancy

Humboldt LAFCo is accepting applications from interested community members to serve as the Alternate Public Member on the Commission. The Alternate Public Member participates in Commission meetings and serves as a voting member in the absence or disqualification of the Regular Public Member. Applications received by June 19, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. will be considered for potential appointment at the July 15, 2026, LAFCo meeting.

About LAFCo

Humboldt LAFCo is an independent local agency created by the State Legislature in 1963 to encourage orderly growth and development of local agencies. LAFCo’s mission is to facilitate changes in local governmental structure and boundaries that fosters orderly growth and development, promotes the efficient delivery of services, and encourages the preservation of open space and agricultural lands. LAFCo seeks to be proactive in raising awareness and building partnerships to accomplish this through its special studies, programs, and actions.


Humboldt LAFCo now offers members of the public access to a GIS mapping tool that offers data specific to Humboldt County, including jurisdictional boundaries and spheres of influence of local public agencies.
